[MA-SOC] Suggestions for free anime / manga online?

IRC requires too much manual labor for me to bother. I'm all about
bittorent. 8 connections at once on IRC is a pittance when you have
HUNDREDS—and sometimes THOUSANDS—of connections on bittorrent.

There is only ONE thing to gain by using IRC. Sometimes when a show gets
licensed the fanbsubbers take it off bittorrent. But if you log into the IRC
channel they MIGHT still have the show available to download. Sometimes
they'll continue to work on the show and release it on IRC as well.

Unless there's a reason like your ISP is blocking there's no reason to slum
it on IRC like it's the late 90's. Or worse, DC++.

As for usenet I'm not paying for that. If I'm going to pay to pirate
something I might as well be buying DVDs legitimately. Those donations
banners on fansubber websites always rub me the wrong way. Also I'm too lazy
to bother with all that. I rather anime COME TO ME!

*How To Get Your Anime From Bittorrent Without Breaking a Sweat*

Listen, I am a lazy asshole. You would never catch me going to individual
sites for anime. Those days are over my friend. We live in a world of
torrents, RSS feeds and subscriptions. Stop doing things the hard way, do it
the lazy asshole way, like me!

1. Download & Install uttorent. (Well, duh! "Hurrr, download it and just
leave it there." LOL) http://www.utorrent.com/
2. Hit F7 if you don't see a category list on the left.
3. Right-click inside the category list and choose "Add RSS Feed..."
4. Add the following feeds:

http://www.animesuki.com/rss.php?style=alt
http://bt.shinsen-subs.org/?rss200
http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=rss&catid=1&subcat=11
http://bt.saiyaman.info/rss.xml

http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=rss&catid=5&subcat=19

http://www.baka-updates.com/rss.php

http://btx.ath.cx/feed.xml
http://tokyotosho.info/rss.php?filter=11,5&cat=1

You may of course delete and add to this list. Adding these feeds DOES NOT
MEAN YOU'RE AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOADING THESE SHOWS. So yeah, add as many as
you want. You'll notice a lot of fansub groups on this list. That's because
even though there are sites like AnimeSuki that aggregate feeds from all
over the place, their RSS feed is constantly updated and only has a finite
amount of shows listed on it. If you find a fansub group you like, add their
feed. Their feed moves slower than any aggregator thus you'll never miss an
episode. And you might get the show sooner as well.

5. After adding the feeds hit Ctrl-R
6. Click "add" on the box to your left then type "New Releases" in the form
field it spawns.
7. Now fill the fields on the right as follows:

Filter: *
Not: *avi* (This will filter out AVI files. Some people may want to leave
this blank since some groups only release in AVI format. Your choice)
Save in: (Choose where you want your files saved, click on "...")
Feed: All
Quality: All

Put a check beside "Episode Number" and in the form field enter: 1x01-02
Doing so makes it download the first and second episode of any show.
Honestly, the only RSS that I know obeys this 100% is AnimeSuki. The rest
are a crapshoot but trust me, you're getting 99% of new shows released with
this. The ones you miss are the ones that were jointly created and thus
licensed a long time ago. And once you understand how THIS works you can set
up a rule to get those shows anyway.

Leave the following checkmarks blank: Filter matches original..., Don't
start downloads automatically..., Give download highest prioity..., Smart
ep. filter

Minimum interval: match always
Label for new torrents: New Releases

8. Close.
9. Hit Ctrl-R again and make sure it saved your changes.
10. Now you wait. When new shows arrive, you watch them!

When you find a show you like, just add the show as a subscription. Here's
an example from a show I'm currently subscribed to:

1. Hit Ctrl-R
2. Add and type "K-ON!"
3. Filter settings:
Filter: *k-on*
Not: *.ts|*.avi.*|[Aasasubs]*|[qq]*|*raw*
Save In: F:\torrents\K-ON!
Feed: All
Quality: All
*THE NEXT SIX FIELDS AND BOXES ARE LEFT BLANK*
Minimum interval: match always
Label for new torrents: K-ON!

4. Close
5. Ctrl-R and make sure your changes were saved and that's it!

NOTE: TESTING YOUR FILTER

You can test your filter by clicking on the questionmark beside "Delete" on
the left side of the window. It helps you narrow down your targets. And
again, if you find a fansub group you like, add their feed to the list.

Oh, it's midnight!
