When it comes to eBay sales, I will accept postal money orders because
those are a guaranteed purchase, as are cashier's checks.

However, the tiny loss to me is negligible compared to a loss the
convention can take.  So I agree that when you decide to take checks,
you should definitely cash them ASAP, or at least with 14 days of
getting them, depending on where your con's bank is and where its post
office box or mail drop is.
