And this year, we have like... 9 months ^_~

We did, however, have the advantage of not having to negotiate a 
legal-ese filled contract with a convention centre. If we didn't have 
access to campus buildings, it would have been much more difficult to 
put the convention together in the ammount of time that we had.

It's a matter of keeping things within your means, if you only have 4 
months, (and you want to have a life during the planning stages) 
maybe just start with a 1 day event and let yourself grow from there. 

But that's the theory of a group of already debt-ridden university 
students ^_~ 
I'd be very interested in hearing how the now big conventions got 
their starts. Loans? Donations? Industry support?
