[ACML] Animerica to distribute solely at cons

>From what i have experienced with them as a consumer and as an advertiser-
they have changed their publication format since the restructuring 2 years~~
ago. Julie (Davis) didn't say much when we talked about it but it was how
she didnt say much that somewhat tipped me off. The "fan" appeal with info
is being replaced with cross marketing product ads.:)
(and high turnover in the marketing dept).

heck- look at what they are offering for cons now...let *us* do your con
book for you (plus printing costs) for 10,000$ USD and you can have a few
pages of content along with 3/4 filled with VIZ ads.

Plus with their business relationship with Shopro. Who are the real decision
makers in this relationship?:)

Once upon a time in Canada, Animerica was popular and remained popular-even
with NT on the scene due to cost and content. Now it seems that Animerica
is more of a vanity publishing product for marketing VIZ products. Who
would want to buy that???:) I know i cancelled Sarah's subscription due to
the lack of content that wasnt ad related. We still get Shonen- Jump ,
since she reads that faithfully (though it is constantly late). But are
leaning towards NT just because it actually has content.:)

Also, friends of mine who normally did reviews for VIZ had their source cut
off 2 years ago as well. It seems the "fan touch" is no longer important
vs. the marketing touch. I hope they realize that they still need that
fan-appeal to make it worthwhile buying. Otherwise....its just like a
diamond product catalogue- IMHO.:)

This does not make much business sense. I guess Viz is turning it into
Animag?! Reducing the printing run? Kinda going full circle if this is
true. Is anybody at Animerica more than an intern nowadays?
